Checked out of my RV park in Holbrook, AZ today. They wanted to charge me $10/hour extra past checkout time so I could finish my workday, even though I was only 1 of 3 campers there. Instead, during my lunch break, I packed everything up and drove to the nearby Chevron station. Here we sit, staring at the gas pumps, finishing our afternoon work meetings.

We’re spending the night at our first Boondocker’s welcome in Kalispell, MT. The host is extremely sweet and brought us a welcome packet. The yard is beautiful and we are surrounded by gorgeous green grass. Which is a perfect home for red ants. Jasper had several attach to his paws, and now he’s too scared to leave the RV front door. I’ve learned red ants are much more effective than a leash.

We’re camped out on beautiful public land north of Phoenix, AZ. I had a 10 minute break from my work meeting, so Jasper and I went for a quick walk. The cholla caught Jasper. Two large balls of cacti in his leg. I used my down jacket to pull them out, but now I have cholla in my jacket. No time to worry about that, as I’m late back to my meeting. Upon my return, I now have to explain to my coworkers why I’m late and what jumping chollas are. Note to self… always hike in the desert with a comb to remove the cacti.

We had a mouse invasion tonight. Napoleon ate one of them. The second one he decided to bring into bed… alive. It ran into the corner and tried hiding under the covers. At this point, I was no longer asleep. Thankfully, Napoleon grabbed the mouse quickly and took it back to the kitchen floor. As Napoleon hovered over it, it rolled on its back playing dead. All of its paws were curled in and it was actually quite cute. A quick mug over the mouse and I was able to throw him outside.

We had a Code Brown today. What’s that you ask? It’s when Napoleon eats too much grass and then some of his you-know-what gets stuck as he’s trying to go in the litter box. He then jumps out and starts scooting his behind all over my floor. Usually I can catch him and get him outside before he scoots, but he was just too fast for me today. He left me a present on the floor and another on my boyfriend’s lap. Thank goodness for lots of paper towel.
